Arrival at Koh Samui Airport. The colourful little airport busses and bamboo-hut-style airport building are the first impressions of this paradise island. We arrived just in time for Songkran (Thai New Year) and witnessed the celebrations during our transfer to the hotel: hundreds of people in the streets, on motorbikes and pick up trucks making each other soaking wet by means of hoses, buckets, water pistols, etc. Arriving at the hotel, we were stunned by its beauty and found a perfect honeymoon bungalow on the beach. The bed covered with flowers and a bottle of champagne readily cooled. As hotel guests we celebrated Songkran with sending lampions into the sky, which soon made the sky sparkle with hundreds of little lights. |
